Subject: [EE] Want to replace 2n7000 with bipolar
Click here for more on this subject

I have been using a 2n7000 FET in an RS232 circuit, but want to go with a bipolar. The device is battery powered, so I need very little current to the base, but it is using the voltage from the other devices serial port for signal power. I am hoping a darlington pair will be appropriate replacement for the 2n7000. What would be a good generic easy to obtain darlington pair in a TO 92 case for this job, or is there a better transistor for this.
